Anglian League Boys Qualifier

Suffolk Boys narrowly failed to qualify for the final of the Junior Anglian League, losing out to Cambridgeshire at Thetford Golf Club. Norfolk took third place. The final scores were Cambridgeshire 15 points, Suffolk 12 points, Norfolk 9 points.

The damage was done in the morning foursomes when Cambridgeshire took a three point advantage over Suffolk  by 7 to 4, Norfolk scoring just one point. The afternoon singles was very evenly contested with all three counties scoring 8 points.

For Suffolk, George Fricker yet again scored maximum points, teaming up with the rapidly improving Taylor Crisp in the foursomes to record Suffolk's only win over Cambridgeshire. Jack Butcher continued his good form after winning the Fishing Smack a few days earlier by securing three points, a victory over Norfolk with Max Weaver in the foursomes and two resounding wins, by 6 / 5 and 4 / 3, in the singles. Four of the eight Suffolk singles matches against Norfolk reached the 18th green, where Liam Hansey scored a win, Louis Martin and Conal Downing both halved their matches and Max Weaver went down by one hole.

Cambridgeshire, coached by former Suffolk professional Ben Kerr who is now at Bourn Golf Club, deserved their win and go on to meet Lincolnshire in the final.
