Habebul Islam 4th in McGregor Trophy
3 Suffolk youngsters took part in the McGregor Trophy held at Burnham & Barrow Golf Club on the 18/20th July.
Max Adams, Bury St Edmunds, failed to make the cut ,which fell at 6 over par, although he carded an extremely good 73 in his 2nd round, an 85 in round 1 doing the damage.
George Fricker, Ufford Park, made the final two rounds making the cut on the qualifying mark. He finished on 15 over par for a creditable 23rd place with rounds of 73-75-75 and 76
Habebul Islam, Ipswich, was always in contention for the title opening the competition with a 2 under par 69 and adding further rounds of 74-77 and a closing 69 for a total of 289 and 4th place. Habebul finished only 3 shots behind the winner and could have collected the title but for a bad run of holes halfway into his third round. Never the less to finish 4th in such a prestigious event is a superb achievement.
The winner was Joonas Juan Tarba from the Estonian KGolf and Country Club who finished on 2 over par after rounds of 67-70-74 and 75.
