Seaton Robson Trophy
Aldeburgh Golf Club held their annual open competition for the Seaton Robson Trophy, a Suffolk Order of Merit event in the Woodward Markwell Race to Aldeburgh, on Friday 22 June.
The course offered a stern test for 54 competitors who took part with a strong breeze and very firm, fast running conditions
At the end of the first round Danny Western, (Gorleston) led the way with a superb round of 70, 5 shots clear of Jed Seeley (Newton Green) and Chris Duffy (Gorleston) who both returned a 75 and 6 clear of Calvin Sherwood (Rookery Park) who had 76..
Danny added an afternoon 74 for a total of 144 which saw him comfortably ahead of his nearest rival Calvin Sherwood who shot 73 for 149 and Jed Seeley who added a 78 for 153.
The Seaton Robson Trophy is a handicap event, however, Western's score was sufficient to see him the winner with a nett 146 from John Blackmore (Felixstowe Ferry) on 148 and Sherwood on 149.
