Ball is Suffolk Senior Champion

The Suffolk Senior Championship was played at Woodbridge Golf Club on Wednesday 15th August. 71 players took part

Andy Ball, 5 handicap from Bury St Edmunds, took the title and the Geoffrey Barnard Bowl with a 2 over par 72 from Roger Taylor, 3 handicap from Aldeburgh and John Whitby, 3 handicap from Ipswich both one shot behind after carding 73's 

Ball will be Suffolk's representative at the Senior Champion of Champions tournament which is to be held at Woodhall Spa Golf Club on the 15/16th September.

Ball also had the lowest nett score with 72-5-67 from Alan Scovell (Woodbridge) 75-6-69 and Taylor, Whitby, Nigel Fosker (Felixstowe Ferry), William Stevenitt (Hintlesham) and Trevor Golton (Stowmarket) all with nett 70's.

The Michael Thomas Trophy went to the Bury St Edmunds trio of Andy Ball, Stev Duffety and Graham Smith  who are pictured left with County President, Colin Firmin, with a combined 227, one shot ahead of Aldeburgh and Ipswich. 

Age Group prizes went to; 70+ 1st Peter Wood (Ipswich) nett 71, 2nd Phil Platten (Woodbridge) nett 73, 52-69- 1st William Stevenett (Hintlesham) nett 70, 2nd Trevor Golton (Stowmarket) nett 70, 55-61- 1st Chris Vietch (Felixstowe Ferry) nett 71, 2nd Stephen Duffety (Bury St Edmunds) nett 71
