Coronation Cup

Felixstowe Ferry held their annual competition for the Coronation Cup, a Suffolk Order of Merit event, on Sunday 20th August.

Mel Pipe, 5 handicap from the home club opened with a round of 76 but shot a 5 under par 67 in the afternoon which included 5 birdies and 13 pars. It is a new course record from the black tees.His total of 143 was 2 shots better than Adam Sheldrake, also from the home club who had rounds of 72 and 73 for 145. John Whitby, Ipswich, was 3rd on 146- 74 and 72, from James Tyler, also Ipswich, on 147-75-72, with Rhodri Harston, Felixstowe Ferry on 148- 76-72.

Tyler had a hole in 1 ( an albatros) on the 305 yard 4th hole using a 3 wood.

The Coronation Cup is a handicap event and was won by Mel Pipe with a nett total of 133.He is pictured receiving the Coronation Cup from Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club Captain, Steve Frost..
