England Golf South East Group Under 18 League
With the Suffolk Under 18 team on it's way to Norfolk in preparation for the final of the Junior Anglian League, a very young team represented the county in the final fixture of the England Golf South East Group, Northern Division, Under 18 League against Norfolk and Bedfordshire at Flempton. With Norfolk already having won the division, all three counties agreed to select several Under 16 players who don't often get the opportunity to represent their counties at this level.
It transpired that both Norfolk and Bedfordshire were able to field only seven players after late call-offs due to an injury and a family problem, giving the home county an early advantage. Suffolk won both their matches by 5 - 3 and Norfolk beat Bedfordshire 4 1/2 to 3 1/2. This meant that Suffolk finished as runners up to Norfolk in the division.
Reegan Marshall excelled on the day with two convincing victories and Will Garland and Max Weaver also won both their matches. Weaver's 12 year old brother, Tyler, was not overawed by the occasion and won half a point against Bedfordshire after being four down at one stage. Certainly one to watch in the future with a handicap of 9 at a young age.
