England Golf South East Group Under 16 League
On Saturday the 18th of August Suffolk U16's played against Norfolk and Essex at Fynn Valley Golf Club in the last match of the 2018 U16 triangular league. With Essex and Suffolk sitting jointly at the top of the league this was another must win match for Suffolk.
Home advantage proved to be key as both Norfolk and Essex struggled to cope with the Fynn Valley layout where strategic play is greatly rewarded.
It was essential that Suffolk got off to a good start. Captain Max Weaver led out the team and duly delivered a maximum 2 points early on. Despite teeing off in the last group George Fricker was next to finish having won both of his matches by the time he'd completed the 12 hole with some very impressive scoring. From then on the points poured in with win after win for the Suffolk boys with Taylor Crisp and George Austin dismissing their opponents in a timely fashion. Ryan Turnbull took maximum points and despite playing against one of the top Essex players Ben Newman came home with a further 2 points to ensure an emphatic victory for Suffolk.
The final match score was;-Suffolk beat Norfolk 7 points to 1 and Suffolk beat Essex 7.5 to 0.5. Essex beat Norfolk 4.5 to 3.5
