Haverhill Junior Open
Haverhill Junior Boys' Open was held on Wednesday 27th August. In total 23 Juniors from across the County took part.
The format of the event was medal, played off white tees for handicaps 0-28, with prizes awarded for the best scratch and handicap scores. In the scratch event, Jed Sealey from Newton Green carded a very respectable 3 over par gross 73 to claim the overall victory. In second place was Harvey Watts with a gross score of 74, representing Newton Green and in 3rd place Ben Tatum with a gross 76 also from Newton Green, completing the clean sweep.
The winner of the handicap competition was another Newton Green Junior, Kieran Sorrell, with a superb 81-16-65. The runner up was Haverhill's Ben Bradnam with 88-21-67 and in 3rd place was Harvey Watts with 74-6-68 on count back, just edging out Max Weaver with 79-1-68 from West Suffolk Golf Centre.
A separate stableford competition, played off the red tees, was contested for handicaps of 29 and over. The winner was Matthew Carpenter with 36pts, representing Haverhill, who reduced his handicap by a shot to 29. The runner up was Harry Proctor, also from Haverhill with 25pts.
