Suffolk Match play Championships

The Semi- Finals and Finals of the Junior, Men's and Seniors Match play Championships were played at Bungay & Waveney Valley Golf Club on Sunday 19th September. The venue had to be switched at the last minute owing to a mix up in the booking with the expected host venue and the Union is indebted to Bungay & Waveney Valley Golf Club for stepping in and hosting the event at the last minute.

In the Junior Semi Finals Ben Mason (Flempton) beat Charlie Goodridge (Bury St Edmunds) 5 &4 and Sid Neenan (Aldeburgh) defeated Josh Altham (Rookery Park) 2 & 1 Neenan went on to claim the Suffolk Junior Match play title by defeating Mason 5 & 4.

In the Seniors Semi Finals Steve Mann (Woodbridge) received a walk over whilst John Newsome (Stowmarket) defeated Paul Buckle (Aldeburgh) 4 & 3. Mann went on to claim the title and win the Platten Salver when Newsome had to retire with back trouble after 4 holes of the final.

In the Suffolk Amateur Match play Championship (Presidents Mashie) .Danny Western (Gorleston) defeated Luke Thompson (Rookery Park) at the 1st extra hole whilst James Tyler (Ipswich) overcame Russell Oakey at the 20th. Western went on to claim the title beating Tyler by 6 & 5 in the final.
