Pre Season Interview with Joe Cardy (1st Team Captain)

What hopes, dreams and aspirations does Joe have for the season?

The Anglian League Fixture's 2022 Start today for both 1st and 2nd Teams.

We took the opportunity to sit with 1st Team Captain Joe Cardy to get his thoughts on the forthcoming season.

Q1 - Joe,  let’s start with a reminder about your background in Suffolk, years played, members of/attached to which clubs, involvement with the elite players

Well I turned pro at 18, having been a county junior since the age of 13. I was in a rush! I am attached to Stowmarket Golf Centre & Hintlesham Golf Club.

Q2 - You’re County 1st team captain. What does the role involve?

Well I am part of the group that selects the team, the final decision rests with me. I take the role very seriously as the leader who motivates and mentors the players, with the aim to have real strength in depth to pick from.

Q3 – Which tournaments  do you think Suffolk has the greatest chance of success in for 2022?

I honestly believe we have a chance in everything, but the one we really want is the inter county event at Seacroft, that's the one we have as a county still to WIN.

Q4 –  We have the runner up in the British Amateur in the county, plus National Team members we must be doing something right?

We really do have top level county support from the junior programme up to the Elite 12 Support. The majority of our team members have worked their ways through the ranks. Its a constantly evolving training structure led by Keith at Aldeburgh GC.
