Price is Suffolk Amateur Champion

The Suffolk Amateur Championship was played at Halesworth Golf Club over the weekend of the 25/26th June. 51 players took part with a cut made after 18 holes, the top 30 players and ties progressing to play the final 36 holes.32 players made the cut with the most notable exception being the title holder, Gregor Tait who missed the cut by 1 shot after carding a 82.

James Reiss (Aldeburgh) returned the lowest score on the Saturday with a 1 under par 71 from Monty Scowsill (Woodbridge) Dominic Rudd (Woodbridge) and Will Wright (Aldeburgh) who all returned 73's.

Round 2 saw George Fricker (Woodbridge) return a 2 under par 70, which included a 2 shot penalty for being late on the tee, Connor Talbot (Hintlesham) a 71 and Chris Bartrum (Diss) and Patrick Spraggs (Aldeburgh) 72's. Scowsill added a 73 to lead on 146.

In Round 3 Scowsill could only manage a 76 for a total of 222, whilst Spraggs added a further 72 - he was level par on the day despite making 13 birdies over the two rounds. 

Jimmy Price , a 1 handicapper from Felixstowe Ferry opened with a 74 and added another in Round 2 before carding a 1 under par 71 in Round 3 which saw him take the title on a total of 219 , 2 shots ahead of Spraggs and 3 ahead of Scowsill.

James Reiss took the Round 1 prize with 71, George Fricker Round 2 with 70 and Declan Condon (Woodbridge) Round 3 on count back with 74

The nett prize went to 13 year old George Swallow, 9 handicap from the home club, with 216 from Ben Mason (Flempton) on 225.
