Suffolk Golf Union
Suffolk hosted the Southern Counties Foursomes qualifier at Aldeburgh Golf Club on Tuesday 5th July, where they were competing against Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire with the winners going through to the Final which is to be held at Boyce Hill Golf Club on Thursday 15th September.
Suffolk led the way after the morning round on 3 points from Norfolk and Bedfordshire on 2.5 and Cambridgeshire on.2. Suffolk's points came from Simon Goldsmith (Rookery Park) and Steve Mann (Woodbridge) Trevor Hellyer and Simon Bearman (both Hintlesham) and Captain Steve Duffety (Flempton) and Phil Smailes (Bury St Edmunds)
There were wins in the afternoon from Hellyer and Bearman and John Newsome and Roger Taylor- Adrian Studd and Gary Seaman halving their game,leaving Suffolk on 5.5 points and level with Bedfordshire who progress to the Finals with a better holes up 17 against Suffolk's 15. Cambridgeshire finished on 5 points and Norfolk 4.
