Newton Green Junior Open
Newton Green held their Junior Open, the final Suffolk Junior Order of Merit event of 2016, on Monday 24th October. 32 juniors took part.
The lowest gross score was recorded by home player Ben Tatum, handicap 5, with a 3 over par round of 72, one shot better than Sam Byford, 1 handicap from Ipswich and James Cooper, 5 handicap from the home club who both carded 73's..Ben Tatum also recorded the lowest nett in division 1 with 67 followed by James Cooper with 68 and Harry Hodgson, 5 handicap from Woodbridge, and Oliver Page 9 handicap from the home club both with 71's.
Division 2 ( 10 to 18 handicap) played on a stableford basis was won by Max Weaver (West Suffolk) with 37 points on countback from Luke Green, Ipswich.
Division 3 (19 plus) was won by Issac Toombs, 27 handicap from Stoke By Nayland, who beat his brother Max on countback. Both scored 38 points. The Toombs brothers also won the team prize taking the Aldous Cup on countback from Ben Tatum and Oliver Page.
The putting prize went to Ben Tatum with Sam Byford and Georgia Parker ( Bury St Edmunds) taking the respective boys and girls longest drive prizes whilst Joshua Goulton (Ipswich) and Harvey Watts (Newton Green) took nearest the pin prizes.
