Northamptonshire v Suffolk

Suffolk traveled to Rushden Golf Club to take on Northamptonshire in their final East Anglian Seniors League match knowing that only a win would leave them in with a chance of winning the title. Regulars Steve Whymark and John Whitby were unavailable in addition to which Dick Barton was involved in a serious car accident on his way to the practice round with Alan Garrett stepping in at the last minute.

Never the less Suffolk Started brightly establishing a 3-2 lead after the morning foursomes with a win from Mark Jackson and Trevor Hellyer and halves from Roger Taylor and Geoff Henney and Andy Ball and Chris Whyatt.

The afternoon singles saw Henney, Oates and Whyatt take maximum points with halves from Taylor and Hellyer resulting in a 6-4 success for Northamptonshire and an overall match victory by 8-7.
