Suffolk Under 14's hosted Essex at Halesworth Golf Club on Friday 15th August. The match is always a benchmark for Suffolk to assess standards achieved during the year. The match started in wet conditions, however the course was presented in excellent condition.
The morning foursomes saw Essex take a 3-2 lead with George Fricker and Archie Winter being the only Suffolk winners.
The afternoon singles were extremely close with both Counties winning 5 matches. The opening match saw an off form Harry Fricker beaten 7 & 5 by the Essex captain Michael Gilbert. Matches thereafter were traded and despite considerable effort Suffolk were unable to gain the extra half a point which would have secured a draw.
