Suffolk Under 14's v Essex Under 14's ( Anglian Shield)
On Monday 29th August Suffolk Under 14's played against Essex, for the Anglian Shield, at Thorpeness Golf club.
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t pleasant with continual drizzle throughout the day and some heavy down pours. However the juniors didn’t let this get them down, all played well with some fantastic golf played. Jack Rust from Flempton had one of the luckiest shots on the 7th, he thinned his tee shot shot over the water only for the ball to finish 6 foot from the pin. Thomas Clark holed a 30 foot putt. .
Suffolk were leading by one point after the morning foursomes. After lunch with the rain continuing, the juniors played singles and unfortunately only Teddy Hall and Thomas Clark were able to win their matches. However, some matches were very close going down to the last hole.Essex fielded a very strong team however Suffolk played to a high standard but lost to a better team on the day. Despite the weather spirits and enthusiasm were high with all the juniors playing to the best.
A big thank you Thomas and his family who were on holiday when called on to replace a late drop out, they were more than happy to fill in.Thanks also to Harry Tibble for stepping up to be captain for the day.
Final score Essex 10 points and Suffolk on 5 points.
