Suffolk v Suffolk Pros

Suffolk Pros entertained a County team in a warm up match for the coming season at Rushmere Golf Club on Sunday 29th March. The match was played on a foursomes basis using Hambro scoring.

Bursts of heavy rain and strong winds made conditions difficult but there were some good matches to help prepare the amateurs for the coming Anglian League season.

The Pros final pairing on the course, Ollie Rush ( Haverhill) and Jack Cardy (Hintlesham) won their match against Josh Robertson (Ufford Park) and Ali Hall (Halesworth) by 4 holes to secure an overall win for the professionals by 1 hole.

Chris Smith (Fynn Valley) and Lawrence Dodd (Bury Golf Range) trailed by 2 holes after 8 to Paul Waring (Felixstowe Ferry) and Chris Bartrum (Diss) but recovered on the back nine to run out winners by 3 holes.

Sam Forgan (Stowmarket) and Peter Latimer (Felixstowe Ferry) were always in front against Robert Salter (Woodbridge) and James Biggs (Diss) eventually running out winners by 2 holes.

Suffolk youngsters Gregor Tait and Jack Forgan looked to be running away with their match after 11 holes. However Hintlesham professionals Joe Cardy and Phil Westley staged a fightback on the back 9 to go down by only 2 holes.

Suffolk professionals Captain Frank Hill (Thorpeness), who has played on the European Senior Tour, and Robert Joyce from Felixstowe Ferry had their hands full against Suffolk Captain Nathan Overton and Jasper Johnson (both Woodbridge) going down by 6 holes.
