Tait retains Suffolk Junior Championship
The Suffolk Junior Championship was held at Waldringfield Golf Club on Monday 3rd August. A field of 34 competitors took part, which included 8 boys under the age of 14 with handicaps of 10+ playing only 18 holes.
Gregor Tait, Ipswich, retained his title with rounds of 69 and 72 leaving him one under par for the day. Tait, who made his Suffolk first team debut at the weekend against Cambridgeshire, was two shots ahead of Sam Byford (Ipswich) and three ahead of Jed Seeley (Newton Green) and Jack Phillips (Ipswich) Byford carded a second round of 71 for a total of 142 where he was joined by 14 year old Habebul Islam ( Ipswich) who added a 2 under par 69 to his opening round of 73. Habebul's morning round of 73 took the Under 14 gross prize.
Tait now has the opportunity to represent Suffolk in the England Golf Junior Champion of Champions tournament which is to be held at Woodhall Spa on the 19th September.

The Suffolk Junior Team Shield was won by the Ipswich Trio of Gregor Tait, Habebul Islam and Sam Byford with 425 from Newton Green's Jed Seeley, Harvey Watts and Connor Talbot on 447.
