Thorpeness Junior Open (Bell Cup)
Thorpeness Junior Open, a Suffolk Junior Order of Merit event, took place on Bank Holiday Monday, 4th May at Thorpeness Golf Club. There were 40 entrants, with handicaps ranging from 3 to 28, of which 32 were boys and 8 were girls.The weather was kind, sunny but windy.
The Bell Cup, awarded for the best gross score, was won by Sam Byford from Ipswich Golf Club, who, playing off 3 handicap, achieved a gross score of 76.
The boys’ net winner was Joshua Hulyer from Haverhill who scored net 69 playing off 18 handicap with Alex Watkins of Hintlesham second (net 69) and James Cook from Thorpeness third on count back also scoring net 69.
The girls net winner was Ella Mason from Ely City who scored net 68 playing off 19 handicap with Mary Cuthbert second (net 74) and Molly Newson third (net 75) both from Thorpeness.
Other winners –Front 9, Harry Hodgson (Woodbridge) and Chloe Thackeray, (three Rivers) Back 9 George Fricker (Ufford) and Anna Guest (Gog Magog).
