Suffolk Boys retain Tom Finn Trophy
Suffolk U16's played against Cambridgeshire and Leicestershire in the Tom Finn Trophy on Sunday at Brampton Park. There had been many difficulties in arranging this fixture with poor availability and last minute cancellations and up until Saturday morning we were still one player short. However, Callum Hughes stepped in at the very last minute to mean that were able to field a full 10 man side
The Tom Finn Trophy is a tough fixture and the pressure was on with Suffolk the current trophy holders. All of the Suffolk boys played really well with several of them making the turn in under par. A fantastic team effort meant that all of the boys scored at least 1 point with George Fricker, Oli Page, Taylor Crisp and Reegan Marshall gaining the maximum 2 points. There was a great debut performance from George Austin winning one of his matches (certainly a player to look out for in the future). A special note should go to super sub Callum Hughes who came into the side at the very last minute. The pressure was on in the last game, with only 3 holes to play Callum was behind against both Cambridgeshire and Leicestershire . Callum dug deep and finished strong and to get a brilliant half in both matches.
The final result was Suffolk 15.5 points, Cambridgeshire 9 points and Leicestershire 5.5 points. Suffolk win and retain the trophy.
