Waring successful at Suffolk Sports Awards Ceremony
19 year old Paul Waring, a plus one golfer from Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club, won the Archant Individual Performance/Achievement Award at the Suffolk Sports Awards Ceremony last Friday evening.
Paul who has been profoundly deaf from birth started playing golf at the age of 13.2015 has been a year of great achievements with Paul winning both the English and European Deaf Golf Championships.The European's were held in Norway and contested by players from throughout the continent.Paul was also a member of the England Team that won the team trophy.
Paul has also performed at the highest level in able bodied golf. He won the Midland Youths Championship, an event which attracts world ranking points.He progressed through the qualifying stage of the Brabazon Trophy, (the England Golf Open Mens Championship) the only Suffolk player to do so and the first deaf player ever to do so,
Paul also qualified for the match play stage of the English Mens Amateur Championship, eventually going out in the second round, by finishing in the top 64 of the Stroke play event beating several England Internationals in doing so. Paul is also a regular member of the Suffolk County Team.
