Suffolk Golf Union
The Suffolk Golf Union alongside the Suffolk Ladies County Golf Association, are currently working on the Junior Open Series for the new year and the dates for 2024 so far, are detailed below.
Designed to help promote the growth of junior golf within the county for both boys and girls.
Not only does it encourage golfers to engage with other like minded youngsters, it will help their development on and off the golf course by offering a platform to enjoy, compete, improve and develop their personal attributes within a safe and friendly environment.
Liam Buggs, of Aldeburgh GC, won the Boys Gross category on 37 points. With highest points being achieved in four Junior Open`s and a second place from his best 5 results, it is an excellent achievement.
In the Net Series, Max Elliott of Gorleston GC, won on 25 points, having achieved two highest points from his best 5 results. Very well done to Max who has been consistent throughout the season.
We must also mention the Girls:
Josie Knights, of Ipswich GC, took the Girls Gross category with three maximum points being achieved from her best 5 results, totalling 32 points and Imogen Potter, of Diss GC, took the Girls Net category achieving two highest points from her best 5 results, totalling 31 points and has also proved to be very strong throughout the year. Many congratulations to them too!
The winners all received their prizes at the end of season "Race to Aldeburgh" presentation held in October. Many thanks to all the players and also to the Suffolk golf clubs involved this year, without whom this would not have been such a success!
