Suffolk Golf Union
The Beaumont Trophy is competed for by clubs affiliated to the Suffolk Golf Union. It is for golfers age 55 and over with a Handicap Index between 11.5 and 20.4(maximum course handicap 20) Each team requires a minimum of two players over the age of 65 on the day of the match. It is competed for on handicap with teams of eight playing four 4ball betterball games against each other on a matchplay knock-out basis over 18 holes. Scoring is on a cumulative holes basis (rather than matches) meaning every hole counts and all 18 holes must be completed in each individual match. The team winning the most holes will progress to the next round. The initial rounds are either home or away and the semi-final and final are played on a neutral venue. Once entries are confirmed a draw takes place in January each year, with clubs arranging matches at mutually convienent times in a week as advised by the SGU Matchplay Secretary.
Congratulations to Rookery Park who won the 2021 Beaumont Trophy beating Haverhill by 7 holes in the final played at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club on Thursday 16th September.
